A first half which rarely saw the ball enter Ludlow’s defensive ‘D’ and plenty of chances on the attacking goal for Ludlow, but for the first 18 minutes Newports defence and keeper were relentless, making save after save.
More opportunities arose with some great team work and passing between Kim Dobson, Sidonie Allsop, Vick Roberts & Rachel Jones.
A long corner was awarded for Ludlow which is when Captain Naomi Burgoyne took the opportunity of a quick self pass, skilling a defender and hit the ball into the top right corner of the goal.
In the second half Newport made more opportunities for themselves which see our defence Karen Hadley, Julie Chamberlain, Charlotte Allsop & Miley Aston involved more in the game, although goalkeeper Chloe Jones only had to touch the ball a handful of times.
Hadley made a defensive tackle to then run most of the way up the pitch, passing across to Ceri Thomas and a further pass to Tabitha Worsley (her first game for Ludlow), who put the goal away with a skilful reverse stick hit.
Ludlow then had another great chance on goal when Aston hit the ball into the air towards the goal but unfortunately hit one of our own players, Shaunagh Yarham, on the head sending her off the pitch for the rest of the game.
Aston was determined to get on the score sheet still and did so in the last minute of the game when Worsley set her up in the ‘D’ for her to strike bottom left corner finishing the game with a 3-0 win.
Player of the match was Tabitha Worsley.
