

Ludlow ladies secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Redditch in a competitive and action-packed encounter that showcased the team’s determination, teamwork and attacking quality.
Ludlow made a strong start, working tirelessly to move the ball effectively and create opportunities going forward. Their efforts paid off in the 15th minute with a well-worked short corner. Ceri Thomas injected the ball, which was tapped into the D by Anna Griggs, allowing captain Naomi Burgoyne to strike confidently and find the back of the net to give Ludlow the lead.
Ludlow continued to work hard for one another, and their persistence was rewarded with a second goal in the 26th minute. A quick 16 pass from Karen Hadley found Tink Gwilliam, who produced a cracking pass from the halfway line to pick out Burgoyne. Driving the ball through the middle towards Thomas, Ludlow capitalised on the opportunity as Thomas showed excellent composure to nip in and finish the move, putting Ludlow in a strong position at 2–0.
However, Redditch were determined not to let Ludlow head into half-time with a comfortable advantage. They increased the pressure and tested Ludlow’s defence, with Ella Evans, Jess Lloyd, Charlotte Allsop and goalkeeper Julie Chamberlain working tirelessly to keep them at bay. Despite their tremendous efforts, Redditch managed to find the net, bringing the score to 2–1 at half-time.
Ludlow returned to the pitch after the break with renewed focus, continuing to use the space effectively, communicate well and move the ball skilfully around the Redditch players. Their attacking play created further opportunities, with Leahana Parry and Rachel Bradbury both threatening in front of goal.
The second half brought increased intensity as both teams battled hard for possession and redditch managed to secure a second goal. The contest also saw its share of disciplinary moments, with both Redditch and Ludlow receiving yellow cards in the 26th minute of the second half. Despite the interruptions and mounting pressure, Ludlow remained determined, continuing to support one another and work as a team.
As the match entered its closing stages, Ludlow’s intelligent movement and well-timed passing continued to create opportunities. Their persistence was rewarded in the 27th minute of the second half when they were awarded a penalty stroke. Tabitha Worsley stepped up and showed great composure to convert, securing Ludlow’s lead.
Redditch continued to battle, ensuring a tense finish, but Ludlow held their nerve as the final whistle approached. The whistle confirmed a deserved 3–2 victory for Ludlow following a determined team performance.
